On Thursday June 12th, Cymmetrik Education Foundation held this year’s Industry-youth Collaboration Program Design Competition. A total of 17 students from Yingge Vocational High School and Jiu-Fang Industrial High School participated in the event, with both principals and teachers coming as well to support their students. With Cymmetrik’s six major business units as a starting point and the United Nations SDG’s as a guideline, students proposed creative and practical design solutions to a panel of industry experts.

The event was hosted by Cymmetrik Education Foundation and organized by Cymemtrik’s Marketing and Sustainability Team and Skills for U. Special guests and judges included Cymmetrik Education Foundation Head Bettina Wang, Skills for U CEO Huang Weixiang, Head of Cymdesign Dave Chien, and Cymmetrik Taipei Factory assistant mangers Ally Chen and Jason Chen. The event was moderated by Cymmetrik’s Marketing and Sustainable Development team.

In this competition, students presented design proposals that combined creativity with environmental thinking in an effort to respond to everyday problems. Many designs incorporated whales and sea turtle motifs, and used Cymmetrik’s green materials and innovative products to create practical ideas that would positively impact people’s lives and the environment.

This year’s winning designs was a set of eco-friendly plant-based sticker that use soy ink to help consumers more easily identify vegetarian and vegan food options. The labels also act as collectable stickers that can later be redeemed for eco-friendly merch that further promotes healthy living. Not only did the student create physically prototypes of her stickers, but also created a mock website to accompany her design, showcasing a high level of professionalism.

Given the immense challenge and energy spent on each one of these student projects, every student received a certificate while runner ups and top three received special distinctions for their outstanding achievement. Additionally, six students were selected based on their work to receive an internship with Cymmetrik.

In his closing remarks to the group, Charmian Calvin Tsai congratulated students on using their creativity on taking steps to use their talents to build their future, stating he firmly believes that Taiwan's technical and vocational education can cultivate outstanding talents with professional skills and practical abilities. After awards, general gifts were exchanged and group photos taken.

The Cymmetrik Education Foundation would like to express special thanks to Skills for U, as well as both Yingge and Jiu-Fang participants and staff who made the event possible. Cymmetrik Education Foundation supports young students through its collaboration program, so that they can become more familiar with the actual market needs, explore the industry landscape, and demonstrate their personal strengths and talents during the process of learning and growing.
